Creative Studio · Print and print production

On screen, everything looks correct.

ALVÉRA designs print materials and handles the entire production, from the press-ready file to delivery at your location. In between sit the mistakes you only see on paper.

What this is about

Layout is one half. The other half decides whether it arrives.

A file that looks perfect on a monitor can still fail at the printer. Missing bleed, colours outside the printable range, insufficient resolution, the wrong paper for the finish. None of this shows up while designing. It shows up when the pallets arrive.

That is why our work does not stop at handover. We check the print data, select paper and finishing with you, manage the printer, track the deadline and have everything delivered to your location. You have one contact for the whole route.

Two mistakes you can touch

Drag the slider.

Every cutting machine has a tolerance. Without bleed it eventually hits white paper instead of your artwork. This is the most common reason a print run has to be repeated.

Press sheet before trimming
Result after trimming

White slivers along the edge. The run is waste.

How far the artwork extends past the final edge. The printer specifies how much is needed, often 3 mm.

Colour space

A screen mixes light, a press mixes ink. Luminous tones cannot be reached with printing ink and drop noticeably.

How we handle it

From the idea to the pallet at your door

Design is the visible part. The five steps below are the reason what arrives is what you ordered.

  1. 01

    Design

Artwork in the format that suits the use. We decide early how the piece will be folded, stacked or displayed, because that shapes the design.

  2. 02

    Print data

Bleed, colour profile, resolution, fonts, overprint. We check the file against the printer specification before it goes there.

  3. 03

    Paper and finishing

Weight, surface, varnish, embossing, die cutting. We show samples so you can handle what you are ordering.

  4. 04

    Production

We collect quotes, place the order, check the proof and track the deadline. You make no phone calls to the printer.

  5. 05

    Delivery

Delivered to your location or straight to several branches, with picking by quantity and address on request.

Common questions

What clients ask beforehand

What is bleed and why do I need it?

Bleed is the area where artwork extends past the final edge. During trimming the stack shifts slightly, so the blade never hits exactly the same line. Without bleed, white slivers appear along the edge. The printer specifies how much bleed is required, often 3 millimetres.

Why do colours look different in print than on screen?

A screen mixes light, a press mixes ink on paper. The two processes cannot reproduce the same tones. Luminous blues and greens in particular cannot be achieved with the four process inks and appear darker and duller in print. We therefore build colours in the print colour space early and supply a proof for critical tones.

Does ALVÉRA print in house?

We design and manage. Printing is done by printers we select by process, run length and deadline. You receive one quote, one invoice and one contact instead of negotiating with several companies yourself.
